In 1994, under the guidance of the older generation of Bon followers residing in Ladakh, everyone worked hard to build a community hall for public gatherings. They took responsibility for preserving their own religious culture by performing Sangsol prayers, entrusting messages, and reciting Bum texts on the eighth day of the month. At that time, it was just a community hall without any monastic title. In 2002, Kyunrig Geshe Lungrik Nyima rebuilt this monastery. In 2017, he was appointed as the abbot of Gshen Bstan Yungdrung Lhatse in Ladakh from Menri Monastery. The main statue is a large Shenrab Miwo Longsö Chokku made of medicine mud, as well as statues of the four Sugatas made of copper, a statue of the Buddha in complete attire made of gold and copper, and statues of Gyalwa Nyammé Yabsé Sum made of gold and copper. There are also statues of Yidam Takla, Khrowo Chöchok, and Yumchen Sherab Jamma. For the speech support, there is one set of Yungdrung Bön Kanjur in book form and one set in volume form. The Katen also contains many tantras, Dzogchen, Sutra Metaphysics, and Chöga. For the mind support, there is one Yungdrung Kölek Chöten made of copper, and three Yungdrung Kölek Chötens made of copper and silver-plated, all containing relics. Here, there are two monks, five tantric practitioners, and two tantric consorts. We regularly perform the Tsok offering to the main protector, Sipe Gyalmo, recite the Bumdak, and perform the Dutri Su purification ritual. When the government sends messages or instructions to perform rituals for the sake of the Tibetan religion and politics, we have performed and are performing the rituals accordingly. Generally, during school holidays, especially in winter, we provide religious and cultural teachings to young people during their school breaks. Occasionally, we also provide teachings to anyone interested in the history of Yungdrung Bon.
